Be, Do, Have

Following on from yesterdays advice (I hope you used it and still are ;-) ) today comes from another part of the same conversation that I was having with a business coach. She is not my coach, we had not spoken before on such things but we really shared the same views so much that it was like we were reading minds!

 

 

 

What became apparent is the crossover in methods when it comes to goal achievement whether it is to lose weight or turn your company into a franchise.

One of the things we discussed was The Secret. Unless you have been in a coma, you will have heard about The Secret as one of the best selling motivational, goal achievement programs ever. Now I have never looked at it myself as I’m very happy with the program that I use and recommend to my own clients and circle. But when we talked about it, it became apparent that both programs use the same principles which is what I’ll explain now.

Be-Do-Have

A big principle of The Secret is the laws of attraction and by thinking really hard about what you want from life, you will then get it. Now obviously that ain’t true and it’s my mistake that i beleived that The Secret was all about becoming what you think. I mean, just thinking that my dinner is in front of me (because I’m pretty hungry right now) does not make it real and no matter how hard I think about it nothing will change.

However, thinking about what you want is still a big factor in success, it programs you into wanting it more, you become absobed in it. That is the ‘Have’ element - What do I want and therefore what I will have…if I do the other sections as well.

 

Back to the beginning is ‘Be’….What do I need to be in order to get what I want. This is your method. To get my dinner what do I have to ‘Become’. I’ve changed my mindset so much and thought about what I want for my dinner. I now have to see what I have to do….get up, stick the oven on, prepare etc.

Then the most import bit, the bit that links the Being and Having is ‘Do’ and by ‘Do’ I mean what action do I take. I get up out of the seat and react to my method and bang……dinner is made!

Simple example but the exercise demonstrates what is powerful in you as a person to deliver. This might mean being coached in some way whether it’s face to face or other means of getting information.

If you want something enough, program it into your mindset. A Lot of people would like weight loss but are they really passionate about it and think about it enough. If not you are perhaps setting yourself up for failure becasue you’re not going to take the next step of coming up with a method and finally delivering on that method and taking action.

Be, Do, Have….It’s all required and brings success whether it’s in your health or your business, or finances, or personal.
