If you have had the idea in the past be it for fat loss, to perform better or something more specific like to lose 1 stone, the likelihood is that you went through some sort of goal setting exercise, might have took 5 minutes or it may have been a bit more detailed and thought out and took a little longer. You may have even gone through a more detailed process and read success manuals/systems and other books about what it takes to get what you want in health, work and life.
I have no issue with these methods and applications, hell I’ve even gone through them myself on a personal level and to also educate myself so that I can help others. It gets people started and into a pattern of thinking of what they are trying to achieve but the main issue then lies in how that is then applied on a daily or regular basis. How many times have you set a goal and not seen it through, perhaps not through lack of trying but just because other things come up as they tend to do in life.
Another example of missing out on what goals you have set is the old think yourself into what you want, just like the book, The Secret. If you think long and hard enough about what you want it will come true.

The issue with these is then not taking the next step, to take some action and actually make things happen and get stuff done.
The solution is to try what I call goal getting and is the next successful step after goal setting and more likely to help you achieve your fat loss goals etc. You see, it is said that it takes at least 21 days to make a new habit and that if you can apply what you need to in those 21 days then there is a higher chance of success becasue you have instilled new successful habits as behaviours into your normal daily routine.
So whatever your goal, set yourself some smaller actions each day as to how you are going to move forward. If there are several then choose 3-4 each day and make them behaviours and then move on to some new questions. I guarantee that it is these small questions that you answer each day that will take you towards you ultimate goal and a more healthy and successful lifestyle.
It is also important to be totally clear about what you want and why you want it. Get emotional about it! Why do you want to lose weight, what are the strong reasons for it.
Be clear to yourself about what the price will be to achieve this. What do you have to do to achieve this. Will there be some kind of sacrifice whether it be time, financial, to try harder…
Then acknowledge to yourself that you are willing to pay that price, that you will take action and make changes and pay the price whatever the sacrifice. Excuses do not cut it here, you may have to be harsh to yourself. If you want something bad then sometimes changes and hard work come with the territory. Repeat the earlier step - why do you want it, what affect will it have on you and your life?
And finally, pay that price. Take the action required, answer your questions each day about what steps you can take and just do it and not just talk about it.
Either you want results or you just like the idea of them.
